This research investigates the effect of social and school processes on explanation of the achievement's differences between girls and boys in PE, particularly when they are assessed in team sports in secondary education. The performances of girls often are lower than those of boys. Traditionally, the differentiated performances may be attributed to physiological or sociological reasons. The object of this research, conducted about 1245 pupils and theirs PE teachers, was to focus on a possible differential treatment at school between girls and boys. This thesis examines the contribution of ‘ethnic' background to the school experiences of educationally and socially disadvantaged students in the senior years of high school (n=927). To investigate the role both of ethnic identification and its interplay with institutional factors, a comparative analysis of secondary student experiences in two national settings was undertaken. The case of Turkish-background students in Australia and France suggests that the influences of ethnic identity are thoroughly transformed from one setting to the other by distinctive pedagogical structures. Ils sont regroupés en trois ensembles et l'objet traité dans chaque ensemble est particulier : l'orientation au collège pour le premier, l'admission et l'orientation dans l'enseignement supérieur pour le second, les politiques d'orientation pour le troisième.
